| Automated Radar Signal Simulator General
Description
The Automated Radar Signal Simulator system provides automatic
end-to-end testing of Electronic Warfare/Combat (EW/EC)) receiver
systems. The ARSS combines the AN/PLM-4
Radar Signal Simulator (RSS),
which provides System-Under-Test (SUT) Radio Frequency (RF) stimulus,
and the Advanced
Diagnostic Software (ADS) System PC as the SUT monitoring
device.
The ADS PC connects directly to the SUT MIL-STD-1553B data bus
and contains the software to decode the MIL-STD-1553B messages from
the SUT and display the results to the operator in a Windows style
Graphical User Interface (GUI). Typical SUT data presented to the
operator includes
Frequency
Pulse Repetition Interval (PRI)
Pulse Width (PW)
Signal Amplitude
Signal Identification
In addition, the ADS PC monitors the SUT Built-In-Test (BIT) messages,
decodes and displays them to the operator in a real-time display.
The real-time BIT monitor eliminates the need for downloading SUT
data to a remote ground processor for analysis. In addition to low
cost, SUT end-to-end testing with the ADS PC provides the benefit
of an expert maintenance advisor linked directly to the SUT bus
monitor for extensive and effective real-time SUT diagnostics solutions.
